Tokyo shares end slightly higher ahead of U.S. corporate earnings

Tokyo shares ended slightly higher on Tuesday as investors maintained cautious ahead of the release of U.S. corporate earnings later in the day.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average inched up 3.22 points, or 0. 02 percent, from Monday at 19,908.68.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 4.56 points, or 0.29 percent, at 1,590. 82.

Gainers were led by pulp and paper, fishery and utility issues, while mining led decliners.

The turnover was about 2,011.1 billion yen (about 16.78 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
