Four civilians killed in E. Afghanistan

Xinhua, April 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

Some four civilians were killed while another was wounded in security incidents in the eastern Afghan province of Wardak overnight Monday, said the provincial government on Tuesday.

"Three civilians, including two children, died in a landmine blast in Markazi Behsoud district last night. One civilian was killed accidentally by his own gun in Nirkh district within the same period," the statement said.

On Monday, a local resident named Ezatullah Khan was injured by a Taliban militants' gunfire shot in Sayyed Abad district in the province with Maidan Shar as its capital, 35 km west of Afghan capital of Kabul.

"The authorities have shifted the injured to a hospital in Kabul for further treatment," the statement noted.

Nearly 3,700 civilians were killed and more than 6,800 others wounded in conflicts and Taliban-led attacks in 2014, according to official figures released by UN mission in the country.

The officials blamed the attacks of Taliban insurgents and other armed groups for vast majority of the civilian deaths and injuries. Endi
