Xinhua, April 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

Two police personnel were killed while one policeman was injured in a bomb attack in the southern Afghan province of Zabul on Monday, an official source said.

"A police unit was on routine patrol at Sangar Manda locality of Shahr-e-Safa district. It was struck by a roadside bomb attack at around 08:30 a.m. (local time), leaving two policemen killed and one injured," the district governor Malik Ali Mohammad told Xinhua.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident, the official added.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

The Taliban insurgent group has intensified attacks over the past couple of months as the Afghan security forces assumed full security responsibility from NATO-led troops since Jan. 1.

Meantime, one Afghan army soldier was killed in a landmine blast on Sunday, the country's Defense Ministry said in a statement earlier on Monday.

The army special engineering teams have found and defused 30 landmines and roadside bombs since early Sunday across the country, according to the statement. Endi
