1st LD: 4 killed in U.S. drone strike in NW Pakistan

Xinhua, April 12, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least four people were killed and several others injured in a U.S. drone strike launched in Pakistan's northwestern tribal area of South Waziristan on Sunday afternoon, local media reported.

Aaj TV reported that the U.S. unmanned aircraft fired two missiles at a house of suspected militants in Shawal town of South Waziristan, a tribal area located along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The house was leveled to ground in the strike and residents pulled the bodies of the militants from the debris.

The killed militants belonged to Sajna Group, a fraction of banned outfit Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, said the report.

Sunday's strike is the sixth of its kind in the tribal areas of Pakistan since the beginning of this year.

To date, at least 40 people have reportedly been killed and many others injured in such strikes. Endi
