U.S. company Schreiber Foods purchases one of biggest dairy operations in Slovakia

Xinhua, April 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Schreiber Foods, one of the largest milk producing companies in the world, has purchased a dairy in Zvolen, in central Slovakia, confirmed Schreiber Foods representatives on Friday.

"This acquisition enables our company to strengthen our presence in European markets while bolstering relations with our strategic trade partners," said Francois Salamon of Schreiber Foods.

In Zvolen, dairy desserts and yogurts branded "Zvolensky" are produced for retail. The Zvolen dairy is one of the biggest food producers in Slovakia with an annual turnover of 45 million euro (about 48 million U.S. dollars).

Schreiber Foods pledged it would ensure continuity and further growth for its clients, suppliers and employees. The company's current plan is for the 150 employees who work at the Zvolen dairy to stay on as before.

Schreiber Foods is a global company headquartered in the United States with an annual turnover of 4.5 billion euro. The company employs more than 7,000 people in the production and distribution chains of Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Germany, India, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, Uruguay and the United States.
