Lebanese security forces kill two militants in Tripoli

Xinhua, April 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Lebanese Internal Security Forces (ISF) said Friday that it arrested a fugitive wanted on terrorism charge and killed two militants during a shootout in Tripoli late Thursday night.

A unit from the ISF located and arrested Sheikh Khaled Hoblous, wanted for his involvement in clashes with the Lebanese army in Bhannine in late 2014, the ISF statement said.

Two militants, identified as Ousama Mansour and Ahmad Al Nazer, were shot dead during the arrest when they opened fire at the security forces, the statement said.

Mansour, found in possession of an explosive belt during the shootout, was also wanted on terrorism charges, particularly for his role in the double suicide bombings that targeted the Jabal Mohsen neighborhood of Tripoli in January. Endit
