Almost half flights cancelled in France amid air controllers' strike

Xinhua, April 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Around 50 percent of air traffics in France have been cancelled across the country's airports on Thursday due to the air traffic controllers' strike.

French air traffic controllers staged a two-day strike starting from Wednesday to express their dissatisfaction with current work conditions and the plan to prolong retirement age by two years to 59.

Organized by the National Union of Air Traffic Controllers (SNCTA), the industrial action forced airlines to cancel 50 percent of flights during the second day of strike, the DGAC said, expecting traffic disruption coming in and out French airports.

France's Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) on Wednesday advised passengers to check if their flights would be cancelled in the strike before heading for airports.

According to the SNCTA, more strikes are expected to take place later this month. Endit
