Justice Centre in Vienna evacuated following bomb threat

Xinhua, April 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Justice Centre Wien Mitte in the Austrian capital of Vienna was evacuated after a bomb threat received by phone in the late morning on Thursday, police stated.

A male caller made the threat directly to the Centre, that houses the Vienna Commercial Court, the District Commercial Court, and the District Court for the Inner City. All occupants were evacuated and entrances closed.

Following searches by bomb specialists and sniffer dogs no explosives were found. The perpetrator of the threat has not yet been traced, with investigations under way.

A similar bomb threat was made to the same building in March 2013, the caller also a male, and the call also made in the late morning.

Police said every year dozens of similar threats are made to public buildings and facilities in Vienna, often due to certain individuals bearing a grudge. Mental illness is also a known trigger, it was stated. Endit
