Security forces kill 9 militants in Pakistan's Karachi

Police and paramilitary troops have killed nine militants including a Taliban commander in two separate encounters in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi on Wednesday, local media and officials said.
Senior Superintendent Police (SSP), Rao Anwar, said that four militants including a Taliban commander were killed when the police carried out a raid at a militants' hideout in Alipur area of Karachi, the capital city of the country's south Sindh province.
The SSP said that during the raid, one militant was killed right at the spot while the three others were arrested in a critically injured condition.
The injured terrorists later succumbed to injuries at a hospital.
Police said that one of the killed militants identified as Zuber was a top Taliban commander and a close aide of Tehreek-i- Taliban (TTP) chief Mullah Fazlullah.
The commander was a most wanted terrorist who had also got injured in a U.S. drone strike once.
In another encounter with paramilitary troops Rangers, five suspected terrorists of TTP including its Karachi chief were killed earlier in the morning.
Two Rangers personnel were also injured during the exchange of firing between the militants and the troops.
The forces carried out a search operation in Kaemari's Tapo area on information of a resident.
The spokesperson said that during the operation, the militants hurled hand grenades at the troops who retaliated effectively and killed all five insurgents inside the house.
The killed insurgents were allegedly involved in the 2014 suicide attack on Rangers' sector commander, target killing and bank heists.
The group had reportedly also planned an attack on Expo Center during an exhibition this month.
Five hand grenades and a large cache of ammunition were also recovered from the hideout of the killed terrorists. Endi
