A home-made bomb exploded near a police station in Tanah Abang of Central Jakarta on Wednesday, injuring four people, local media reported.

Jakarta Metropolitan police Chief Inspector General Unggung Cahyono told Metro Television that police found a detonator, black powder, nails and other materials at the scene.

The explosion took place at 14:50 p.m. Jakarta time (0750 GMT) at a residential area.

The police officer said three people suffered from serious injuries and another one got minor wound. TV footage showed the victims suffering from cuts at their stomach and in the face.

All of them were rushed to a nearby hospital before the three seriously injured were shifted to the police hospital for better treatment, said Cahyono.
