Myanmar president meets political figures on domestic issues

Xinhua, April 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

Myanmar President U Thein Sein met some political figures at the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw Wednesday to discuss domestic political issues.

The meeting is the second of its kind summoned by the president, and took place two days ahead of scheduled six-party talks on Friday.

Some 48 people, including the president, political leaders, ethnic affairs ministers and representatives of ethnic nationalities, took part in the talks.

Three key points, namely the domestic peace process, the 2015 general elections and political stability before the elections, are focuses of the meeting, sources from political parties said.

The first such meeting was held on Jan. 12.

The follow-up six-party talks scheduled for Friday will discuss issues including constitution amendment. Endi
