Xinhua, April 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

Paraguay's Guarani scored two second-half goals to defeat Argentine outfit Racing Club 2-0 in their Copa Libertadores group match on Tuesday.

Federico Santander netted the opener just after the hour and Marcelo Palau doubled the lead with a long-range effort nine minutes from time.

The result at the Defensores del Chaco stadium lifted Guarani to second in Group 8, just a point behind leaders Racing.

Meanwhile a Diego Chaves brace helped Chile's Palestino to a 4-0 victory over Venezuelan side Zamora in Santiago.

Chaves broke the first-half deadlock just after halftime and added another in the 85th minute.

Leonardo Valencia and Mathias Vidangossy were also on target for the hosts, who moved to second in Group 5, five points behind Boca Juniors.

The Copa Libertadores is the leading club competition of South America's Conmebol confederation. Endi
