Xinhua, April 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

Chinese stocks rose on Tuesday after the three-day Tomb Sweeping Day holiday.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index was up 2.52 percent to finish at 3,961.38 points. The Shenzhen Component Index gained 2.03 percent to close at 13,768.73 points.

Combined turnover on the two bourses expanded to 1.41 trillion yuan (231.26 billion U.S. dollars) from the 1.26 trillion yuan on the previous trading day, marking the sixth consecutive day above the 1 trillion level.

The high-speed rail sector expanded by 3 percent. China's high speed rail manufacturers China North Railway (CNR) and China South Railway (CSR) rose by the daily limit of 10 percent, as their merger progresses.

A total of 146 stocks rose by 10 percent in the two bourses on Tuesday, said Chen Dongwei, an analyst with CITIC securities, but he warned against downward risks as the market has been soaring very fast in the past months.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, increased by 1.85 percent to end at 2,556.70 points. Endi
