Jordan evacuates 145 citizens from Yemen

Xinhua, April 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

Jordan started to evacuates its citizens from Yemen, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Judeh said on Sunday.

Jordan has already evacuated some 145 Jordanians from Yemen and will continue to evacuate the remaining Jordanians, Judeh said at the parliament.

"We will continue to exert our efforts to protect the lives of Jordanians in Yemen and bring them back home safe," the minister said.

On March 26, Saudi Arabia announced that it launched airstrikes on the Houthi rebels in Yemen with the participation of Gulf states including Jordan, a move that was slammed by Iran, which supports the Houthi group. Endit
