Xinhua summary of Asia-Pacific stocks news at 1100 GMT, April 3

Seoul shares ended higher on Friday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 16. 35 points, or 0.81 percent, to 2,045.42 at the close. Trading volume stood at 493.14 million shares worth 4.45 trillion won (4.1 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed 0.63 percent higher Friday following overnight gains on Wall Street, but trading volume was thin ahead of the release of a key U.S. jobs report.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 122.29 points, from Thursday at 19,435.08. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 9.99 points, or 0. 64 percent, higher at 1,564.16.

The turnover was 1,713.5 billion yen (about 14.32 billion U.S. dollars).

SHANGHAI -- Chinese stocks ended higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.0 percent, or 38.14 points, to finish at 3,863.93 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index gained 0.51 percent, or 68.54 points, to close at 13,494.64 points.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 547.85 points on Friday, up 1 points, or 0.18 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.

About 70.713 million shares worth 1.047 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (48.80 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 111 stocks went up, 96 stocks fell down, while 73 stocks remained unchanged.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX- Index, closed at 81.93 points on Friday, up 0.33 points or 0.41 percent against the previous trading session.

A total of 30.022 million shares worth 382.62 billion Vietnamese dong (17.12 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Friday, a decrease of 9.32 percent in volume and 7.07 percent in value against the previous trading session.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Friday. The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,834.52, up 2.55 points or 0.14 percent, and the Emas was at 12,583.03 up 18.01 points or 0.14 percent.

Turnover declined to 1.79 billion shares valued at 1.28 billion ringgit Malaysia (348.58 million U.S. dollars), compared with 2.17 billion shares valued at 2.04 billion ringgit Malaysia (555.71 million U.S. dollars) on Thursday.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Friday moved up 3.82 points, or 0.25 percent to close at 1,536.05 points.
