Xinhua, April 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and police are canvassing the Hebron area in the West Bank Thursday searching for the missing Israeli youth.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Thursday that following a police report on a suspected abduction of an Israeli citizen near the village of Beit Anan in the Hebron area, it is conducting extensive searches in the area.

According to report in the Israeli media, a man driving in the Hebron area with his friend had a flat tire in the car.

The person feared missing apparently went to the nearby Palestinian village of Beit Anun to get tools and did not return, and all attempts to contact him failed.

His friend reported him missing to the local police, the Ha'aretz daily reported.

Major highways in the West Bank in the Hebron area were shut down due to the extensive searches.

Last June, three Israeli teens were abducted and killed by Palestinian militants in the same area. Endit
