CAS rules Morocco can play 2017 and 2019 Cup of Nations

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Thursday lifted the ban from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and gave Morocco the green light to participate in the 2017 and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

CAF disqualified the Moroccan football team from taking part in the 2017 and 2019 Cup of Nations and also imposed on the federation of the North African country the regulatory fine of one million U.S. dollars for failing to host 2015 African Cup fears over the Ebola disease.

"The sanctions imposed by the CAF on the FRMF have been set aside, with the exception of the fine, which is however reduced to $50,000," said the CAS

Morocco was kicked out of the 2015 tournament which was eventually hosted by Equatorial Guinea after the African football body turned down their request to postpone the competitions.

The CAF Executive Committee also decided by a separate measure the sum of over 8 million euros in compensation for all material damage sustained by CAF, stakeholders and partners as a result of the decision not to host 2015 African Cup. Endi
