Chinese envoy vows commitment to enhance relations between China, Ethiopia

The newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia, La Yifan has vowed to work hard towards augmenting the bilateral relations between China and Ethiopia.

The new ambassador on Thursday presented his credentials to Ethiopian President Mulatu Teshome during a ceremony at the National Palace in Addis Ababa, capital of the East African nation.

During the presentation of the credentials, the two have discussed issues related to the bilateral relations between Ethiopia and China, according to Genet Teshome, director general for Asia and Oceania Affairs at the Ethiopian ministry of foreign affairs.

Teshome told reporters that the Chinese ambassador pledged to work hard towards enhancing the bilateral relations between China and Ethiopia.

The ambassador said he would be committed, during his tenure, to the accomplishment of his mission towards boosting the cooperation between the two countries, especially in the areas of industrialization and infrastructure development.

La said he would work further towards attracting more Chinese investors to Ethiopia that they participate in different sectors including among others in the industrialization and infrastructure development of Ethiopia.

The Ethiopian president on his part said that China is Ethiopia' s strategic partner and Chinese investors are participating in various infrastructure development projects such as roads, railways, wind power generation as well as in electromechanical works of hydroelectric power projects and telecom expansions in Ethiopia.

Stating that various development projects carried out by the Chinese during the tenure of the previous ambassador, the president encouraged the new ambassador to build on the successes achieved by his predecessor in the bilateral relations between Ethiopia and China. Endi
