The Saudi interior ministry said Thursday that a Saudi border guard died and 10 others injured in heavy gunfire from Yemen, Saudi Press Agency reported.

The ministry's spokesperson said that the incident occurred Wednesday night in a mountainous area in the southern border with Yemen.

Saudi army troops were brought in to restore order, SPA said.

This is believed to be the first Yemen-related Saudi death since a Riyadh-led Arab launched airstrikes on Houthi targets in Yemen on March 26. Endit
