1st LD: Blast in Afghanistan's Kandahar University wounds one

One person was injured after a blast rocked Kandahar University in south Afghanistan on Tuesday, spokesman for the provincial government Samim Khapalwak said.

"An explosive device planted by terrorists in front of Agriculture faculty, Kandahar University went off at 11:30 a.m. local time (GMT), injuring one person," Khapalwak told Xinhua.

He said the device was a remote-controlled bomb. Without giving more details, the spokesman added that an investigation has been launched into the incident.

Kandahar, the former stronghold of Taliban, has been the scene of militancy over the past few years. Endi
