1st LD Writethru: Roadside bomb kills 7 members of family in Afghan province

Xinhua, March 31, 2015 Adjust font size:

Seven members of a family lost their lives as a roadside bomb struck their vehicle in Andar district of Ghazni province with Ghazni city as its capital, 125 km south of Kabul, on Monday night, a local official said Tuesday. "A mine planted by Taliban on a road in Alizai village of Andar district struck a vehicle last night killing seven members of one family,"Qasim Desiwal told Xinhua.

The victims include three children, three women and a man, the official added.

He also blamed Taliban militants for the attack, saying the Taliban insurgents often plant mines on the roads to target security forces but the device usually claims the lives of civilians.

Desiwal added that the security forces on average basis daily discover and defuse 15 anti-personnel and anti-vehicle mines planted by militants on the roads in Andar district to target security forces.

Taliban militants fighting the government largely relying on suicide and roadside bombings have yet to claim responsibility. Endi
