Church van crash kills eight in Florida

At least eight people were killed and 10 others were injured on Monday when a church van ran through a stop sign and crashed into in a canal in rural Florida, local police said.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the van belongs to a church called the "Independent Haitian Church of Reformation" and it was on its way back from a weekend convention.

There were 18 people in the van when it crashed at 12:30 a.m. local time (1630 GMT).

The driver and seven passengers are confirmed dead. The rest of the passengers were taken to hospitals.

Police said that at the time of the crash, it was not foggy at the scene and the cause of the crash remains under investigation. Endi
