Clash kills 3 militants, wounds 6 in Afghan province

Three militants have been killed and six others including three policemen were injured as security forces raided a Taliban hideout in Jarm district of Badakhshan province on Monday, a local official said.

"The government forces stormed a Taliban hideout in Pul-e- Magolan village of Jarm district Monday morning and so far three rebels have been killed and three others injured," district police chief Mohammad Amin told Xinhua.

Three police personnel have also been wounded in the clash, the official said. He also said that the operations would last till law and order is ensured in the area.

Meanwhile, Zabihullah Mujahid, who claims to speak for the Taliban outfit, in contact with media confirmed the clash but insisted only one Taliban fighter was killed in the firefight which lasted for a while.

Militancy and conflicts have gotten impetus since the herald of spring in Afghanistan.

Spring and summer is regarded as the fighting season in Afghanistan as warring sides availing good weather condition attempt to grab more territory and bolster their positions. Endi
