Tokyo stocks rise 0.65 pct on upbeat Japan view

Tokyo stocks rose 0.65 percent Monday on an upbeat view of the Japanese economy.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 125.77 points, or 0. 65 percent, from Friday at 19,411.40. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 4.99 points, or 0.32 percent, to 1,557.77.

Major gainers included food, retail and rubber issues.

The turnover was 2,398.1 billion yen (about 20.12 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
