DreamWorks' newly released animated movie "Home" debuted in the number one spot this weekend.

Opening at 3,708 locations in the United States and Canada, "Home" garnered 54 million U.S. dollars in North America, surpassing industry expectations.

The opening weekend of "Home" represented the strongest box office in the first three-day performance for DreamWorks Animation since the 60-million debut of "Madagascar 3" in June 2012.

With an "A" CinemaScore from first-night moviegoers, critics gave it a plain 47 percent approval rate from RottenTomatoes.com.

Playing at 3,175 locations, the R-rated comedy "Get Hard" opened to an estimated 34.6 million U.S. dollars this weekend, ranking second, according to box office tracker Rentrak.

Fifty-four percent of the audience were male and 61 percent were 25 years of age or older. The word-of-mouth is "B" from CinemaScore, and reviews are terrible with only 31 percent positive rate.

Last week's pacesetter "The Divergent Series: The Insurgent" dropped to the third place with an estimated 22.1 million dollars this weekend and 90 million dollars in total.

The live action Disney "Cinderella" grossed over 150 million dollars, taking the fourth place with 17.5 million dollars this weekend.

Rounding out the next six films at the North American box office were "It Follows" (4 million dollars), "Kingsman: The Secret Service" (3 million), "Run All Night" (2.2 million), "The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" (2.2 million), "Do You Believe?" (2.2 million) and "The Gunman" (2 million). Endi
