Afghan conflicts leave 17 dead, 7 injured in 24 hours

Xinhua, March 29, 2015 Adjust font size:

Conflicts in Afghanistan have left 17 people dead, including 15 militants and two army personnel, across the country over the past 24 hours, the Defense Ministry said on Sunday.

"A total of 15 terrorists have been killed and seven others injured over the past 24 hours," Defense Ministry Spokesman Zahir Azimi said in his twitter account.

According to Azimi, the security forces have also discovered and defused 19 explosive devices and anti-vehicle mines over the period.

However, the Afghan Defense Ministry spokesman confirmed that attacks and roadside bombs had claimed the lives of two national army personnel over the said period.

Taliban-led militancy and conflicts often get new momentum in Afghanistan with the herald of spring when the weather gets warm. Endi
