Germany's benchmark DAX index advances

The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Friday advanced slightly and closed at 11,868.33 points.

After rising for 10 weeks, the blue-chip index may need a correction, according to local analysts. The blue-chip index added 24.65 points, or 0.21 percent.

The top five risers witnessed moderate increases, with adidas AG taking the lead with an increase of 2.76 percent. K+S Aktiengesellschaft,an agricultural chemical and salt company, rose by 1.39 percent. Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. climbed by 1.15 percent. Deutsche Boerse AG added 1.06 percent. Beiersdorf Aktiengesellschaft, a personal care company, went up by 1 percent.

Continental AG dropped the most by 1.08 percent. Deutsche Telekom AG lost 0.64 percent. E.ON SE, a utilities company, slipped by 0.57 percent. Deutsche Bank AG slid by 0.41 percent. RWE AG St, another utilities company, went down by 0.31 percent.

The turnover stood at 4.22 billion euros (around 4.59 billion U.S. dollars). Daimler AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 422.81 million euros. (1 euro = 1.08 U.S. dollars) Enditem
