Jonathan Choi Koon-shum, the Sunwah Group chairman and the permanent honorary president of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce of Hong Kong, has become the first Hong Kong citizen conferred with Vietnam's Friendship Order on Friday in Hanoi.

The Friendship Order was presented by Pham Binh Minh, Vietnamese deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs for Choi's contribution to promoting trade and economic cooperation between Hong Kong and Vietnam.

Speaking at the awarding ceremony, Choi said over the years, Sunwah Group has committed to continuing its contributions to the development of Vietnam through commercial investments as well as support for public and social services. "Being the first Hong Kong citizen to receive this award, I am very proud of what Sunwah Group, Sunwah Foundation and three generations of my family have contributed to nurturing and developing friendship with this country,"he said.

Sunwah Foundation has invested in Vietnam for 45 years in areas of trade, agriculture, real estates and finance.
