Botswana beats Lesotho 2-0 in friendly

Botswana beat the Crocodiles of Lesotho 2-0 in a friendly match played at the national stadium in Gaborone on Wednesday night.

A goal on the stroke of halftime and another one 15 minutes from the interval handed the home side a well-deserved victory in a game they dominated for long periods.

Mpho Kgaswane converted from the penalty spot on the 45th minute after Lesotho defence committed a foul inside the box. The captain calmly converted to give Botswana the lead going into the break.

Both sides have fielded young players, mostly from the under-23 teams for the friendly tie. Before the first goal, both teams had created very few goal scoring opportunities.

Botswana pressed harder coming from halftime and were rewarded with a second goal on the 65th minute. The goal by Kaelo Seakanyeng followed a beautiful build up by Kgaswane who whipped in a beautiful cross from the left that Seakanyeng tapped around the Lesotho keeper for a goal.

Speaking to the media after the game, Botswana assistant coach Pio Paul said he was impressed with his team's performance as it was their first match in a very long time.

He said they wanted to give the youngsters international experience that will be vital in the future. He said they are preparing to use the team for the Africa Championship qualifiers that start in April. Endite
