Syrian warplanes raid outskirts of Lebanese border town

Xinhua, March 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

Syrian warplanes on Wednesday launched two aerial attacks on the fundamentalist militant bases on the outskirts of Lebanese eastern border town of Arsal, the National News Agency reported.

More than 15 militants were killed in the raids and seven vehicles were destroyed, while five training bases and camps were directly hit, Hezbollah's al-Manar TV reported.

It is not the first time that the Syrian air force targeted the fundamentalist bases on the outskirts of Arsal.

The fundamentalists from al-Qaida-linked al-Nusra Front and the Islamic State (IS) overran in August in Arsal and engaged in five-day battles with the Lebanese army.

They abducted at least 35 Lebanese soldiers and policemen before withdrawing and Al-Nusra executed four soldiers later while the IS beheaded another one. Endit
