Xinhua, March 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

The European Parliament has approved the Commission's proposal of additional 1.8 billion euros (1.97 billion U.S. dollars) of new macro-financial assistance (MFA) to Ukraine, according to an EU statement on Wednesday.

The European Commission said in the statement that the EP's decision is an important step towards swift disbursement of up to 1.8bn in medium-term loans in 2015 and 2016.

It would also be the third MFA programme for Ukraine since 2010.

The new MFA programme is now to be finally approved by the Council of Ministers of the EU. Endit
