Modi launches special Twitter service in India

Xinhua, March 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reportedly launched Twitter Samvad, a specialized service of the micro-blogging website, along with Twitter CEO Dick Costolo.

Modi, who had reached out to the masses in his election campaign through digital media and still keeps connected to people through Twitter, launched the service in the national capital Tuesday.

This service, a joint initiative between Twitter and the Indian government, will help people receive tweets as SMSes from government offices if they give missed calls to selected phone numbers, reports said.

The move is part of Modi's "Digital India" campaign which aims at providing electronic availability of all services to people. Endi
