"Cinderella" stands atop box office charts for 2nd week

The live-action remake of animated classic "Cinderella" topped Chinese box office charts for a second week, earning about 180 million yuan (about 29 million U.S. dollars) in the seven days ending March 22.

The adventure-fantasy, which stars Lily James as princess Ella and Cate Blanchett as her stepmother, opened in Chinese theaters on March 13. Its total ticket sales reached 342 million yuan on Sunday, China Film News reported Wednesday.

The second spot went to domestic drama "Lost and Love." The film, starring popular actor Andy Lau, grossed 117 million yuan since opening on Friday.

"Lost and Love" was closely followed by action film "Taken 3." The popular thriller sequel pulled in 110 million yuan since opening on Friday.

Animated feature "Big Hero 6" came in fourth with 73 million yuan. The film, which debuted on February 28, grossed 495 million yuan in ticket sales.

Rounding out the top five was fantasy-adventure film "Jupiter Ascending", which grossed 28.4 million yuan in the week. The film pulled in 284.4 million yuan since its opening on March 6. Endi
