20 Ugandan athletes to compete at cross country worlds in China

The Uganda Athletics Federation will send 20 athletes for the 41st World Cross Country Championships slated for March 28 in Guiyang, China, a sports official said here on Tuesday.

Dominic Otuchet, the federation president who will lead the delegation, said that the contingent will leave on Wednesday.

"The athletes have been training well in Bukwo and we expect a very good performance in China," said Otuchet.

The 5,000m Commonwealth Games (2014) holder Moses Kipsiro who finished fourth at the 2013 World Cross Country Championships in Poland will lead the group together with other seasoned runners including Geoffrey Kusuro.

Kenyan athletes who dominated the 2013 Cross Country Championships together with Ethiopia and Eritrea will pose a big threat to Uganda's team.

Senior Men: Philip Kipyeko, Moses Kipsiro, Geoffrey Kusuro, Moses Kibet, Timothy Toroitich.
