German benchmark DAX index lost 1.19 pct on Monday

The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Monday lost over 140 points and closed at 11,895.84 points.

A lot of investors were worried that the rally at the exchange might have come to an end, according to analysts who thought the index might make a downward turn. The blue chip index lost 143.53 points, or 1.19 percent.

Infineon Technologies AG, a semiconductor producer, advanced the most by 0.76 percent. Deutsche Bank AG added 0.71 percent.

Commerzbank AG climbed by 0.52 percent. LANXESS AG, a specialty chemicals company, rose by 0.5 percent and Deutsche Boerse AG went up by 0.2 percent.

Volkswagen AG Vz dropped markedly by 3.7 percent. Continental AG lost 3.19 percent. Daimler AG slipped by 3.07 percent. BMW AG St slid by 2.57 percent and Bayer AG went down by 1.95 percent.

The turnover stood at 4.08 billion euros (around 4.46 billion U.S. dollars). Daimler AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 436.8 million euros. Endit
