Xinhua, March 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

Nigeria's basketball team, D'Tigers, emerged overall winners of the 2015 Four Nations' invitational basketball tournament hosted by South Africa on Sunday.

D'Tigers beat Mozambique 72-59 in their final game to win the inaugural tournament held at the Wembley Indoor Arena in Johannesburg.

They had defeated South Africa 97-58 in their first game on Friday and then crushed Kenya 83-52 on Saturday.

D'Tigers went on to defeat Mozambique 51-42 later on Saturday to set the stage for their meeting in Sunday's final.

The team's long-serving captain, Olumide Oyedeji who inspired them to winning all the four matches, won the competition's Most Valuable Player award.

The team was expected back in Lagos, Nigeria's economic hub on Monday.

They are scheduled to take on Burkina Faso in the second leg game of their final round fixture in the qualifiers for the 2015 FIBA Africa Championship, also known as Afrobasket.

The qualifier is also slated for the 2015 All-Africa Games. Endi
