Qatar Emir to visit Pakistan to promote bilateral cooperation

Xinhua, March 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, will be visiting Pakistan on March 23-24 at the invitation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for talks on bilateral and regional matters, officials said Sunday.

It will be Sheikh Tamim's first official visit to Pakistan as the Emir of Qatar.

During the visit, the Emir will meet with the president and the prime minister, the Foreign Ministry said.

The Emir will be accompanied by a high-level delegation including cabinet ministers, chairman of Qatar Airways and senior government officials.

"Both sides will discuss ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields including energy, investment, trade, defence and manpower. Regional and global issues of mutual interest and concern will also be discussed," a Foreign Ministry statement said.

Agreements to be signed during the visit will further deepen mutually beneficial cooperation existing between the two countries in various fields.

"The official visit of the Emir of Qatar will provide fresh impetus to bilateral relations," the statement said.

Earlier, Sheikh Tamim had visited Pakistan in 2010 in his capacity as the then Crown Prince of Qatar, to offer financial assistance for the people affected by floods. Endi
