Former police chief in Inner Mongolia detained on murder suspicion

A former police chief in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has been detained on murder suspicion, the regional public security department confirmed Saturday night.

Zhao Liping, a retired former deputy chairman of the Inner Mongolia Regional Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), who had nearly 30 years of work experience in the public security system, was suspected of being involved in a murder case that happened in Chifeng City on Friday, according to the regional public security bureau.

No details of the murder case has been disclosed so far.

The 64-year-old former police detective acted as regional police chief from 2005 and 2010. He was elected as the deputy chairman of the CPPCC Inner Mongolia Regional Committee in 2012. Endi
