Germany's benchmark DAX index closes above 12,000 points

The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Friday advanced by more than 100 points and closed above 12,000 points.

In spite of the lack of a strong impetus, the rally at the stock exchange continued, which drove the blue-chip index up by 1.18 percent. It added 139.97 points and closed at 12,039.37 points.

BASF SE, a chemical company took the lead on the risers' list, up by 2.67 percent. Muenchener Rueck AG, a reinsurance company, added 2.27 percent. Allianz SE advanced by 2.08 percent. Deutsche Bank AG climbed by 2.01 percent and the utilities company E.ON SE went up by 1.75 percent.

Two out of the 30 member shares slipped on Friday with adidas AG dropping by 0.5 percent and Siemens AG losing 0.3 percent.

The turnover rose substantially to 8.75 billion euros (around 9.39 billion U.S. dollars). Daimler AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 781.86 million euros (around 838.8 million U.S. dollars). Endit
