Nigeria invites 16 players to camp for African beach soccer tourney

Xinhua, March 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

Nigeria has called to camp 16 players who will represent the country at next month's African Beach Soccer Championship in Seychelles, the senior national team coach, Audu Ejo, said Thursday.

Ejo told reporters in Nigeria's Lagos city the team had already opened its camp on Thursday, at the Beach Soccer National Camp in Badagry.

He said out of the 16 players invited, only 12 will make the final list to the competition. All the invited players including team captain Isiaka Olawale had arrived in camp as of Thursday morning, the coach added.

Officials said the Nigerian team would make the trip to Seychelles on April 11, to join other participating African countries three days to the opening of the competition on April 14.

The competition will be staged for five days and the two finalists will represent Africa at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in July. Endi
