At least three Italians among victims of Tunis attack: ministry

At least three Italian nationals were among the victims of the armed attack at the Bardo national museum in the Tunisian capital on Wednesday, Italy's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

At least six other Italians were left injured and were being treated in different hospitals in Tunis, the Foreign Ministry added. No details were given on their health conditions.

A fourth national was also reportedly killed, Italian media said citing the Italian Embassy in Tunis. The news was not yet confirmed by the ministry in Rome.

The attack on the museum was carried out by five gunmen and left at least 22 people dead, according to Tunisian authorities.

Among the victims were 17 foreign tourists, a Tunisian citizen and at least one policeman.

Overall, some 100 tourists were visiting the Bardo museum at the moment of the assault. Besides the Italians, the foreigners involved were from Spain, Germany, France, Japan and Poland. Endit
