Namibia to set up police unit to protect Chinese businessmen

Xinhua, March 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

Namibia will set up a special police unit in charge of protecting Chinese doing business in the country, an official has said.

Police officer of communications in central Khomas region, Christina Fonsech confirmed on Sunday that a plan for the unit is underway following reports about crimes against Chinese businessmen.

She said police in Khomas region have received dozens of such cases in the past months, including burglary and armed robbery.

Namibia has more than 40 Chinese companies apart from other Chinese running small businesses.

Fonsech said the police is also considering the protection of Angolans in the country who suffer from similar crimes. Endi
