Tokyo shares inch down amid cautions ahead of BOJ decisions

Tokyo shares ended slightly lower Monday amid cautions ahead of policy decisions from the Bank of Japan and the U.S. Federal Reserve.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average inched down 8.19 points, or 0.04 percent, from Friday at 19,246.06.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 2.12 points, or 0.14 percent, at 1, 558.21.

Decliners were led by oil and coal, mining and pharmaceuticals.

The turnover was about 2,451.7 billion yen (about 20.21 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
