72-year-old nun gangraped in eastern India

Xinhua, March 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

A 72-year-old nun was allegedly gangraped by a group of armed robbers in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal in the wee hours of Saturday, a police official said.

"The incident happened around 12.30 a.m. (local time) at Gangnapur in the state's Nadia district. The robbers broke into a convent school in the area and gangraped the nun before fleeing with six lakh rupees (12,000 U.S. dollars)," he said, on condition of anonymity.

The nun has been admitted to a local hospital and a probe has been ordered into the incident, which triggered massive outrage among parents whose children study in that convent school.

"A massive manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits," the official said. Endi
