Loew's contract extended to 2018

Xinhua, March 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

Joachim Loew has his contract as Germany coach extended two years to steer the World Cup champions until the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the German football federation announced on Friday.

The 55-year-old Loew's previous contract took him through to Euro 2016.

"We were crowned world champions and we want to experience that feeling again," said Loew.

Loew, who began as assistant to Jurgen Klinsmann in 2004 before taking over the top job after the World Cup 2006 in Germany, led the Germans to World Cup crown in Brazil last year.

Loew's first tournament in charge was Euro 2008 as the Germany lost final to Spain 1-0. Germany lost again to Spain in 1-0 at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa in the semifinals.

Germany finished last four of Euro 2012 after they were defeated 2-1 by Italy. Endi
