Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.70 percent to finish at 3, 372.91 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index went up 0.67 percent to close at 11,713.61 points.

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market dropped lower on Friday driven down by financials and resource stocks.

At the official market close, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was down 35.7 points, or 0.61 percent, at 5814.5, while the broader All Ordinaries index fell 28 points, or 0.48 percent, to 5788.

HONG KONG -- Taiwan's share prices closed down 0.17 percent Friday with the weighted index down 16.65 points at 9,579.35, according to news reaching here from Taipei.

Turnover totaled 85.49 billion new Taiwan dollars (2.71 billion U.S. dollars) during the trading session.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended higher on Friday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) climbed 15.2 points, or 0.77 percent, to 1,985.79 at the close. Trade volume stood at 322.56 million shares worth 4.25 trillion won (3. 76 billion U.S. dollars).

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks moved up 25.25 points, or 0.11 percent, to close on Friday at 23,823.21 points.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 23,790.83 and 23, 918.71. Turnover totaled 73.71 billion HK dollars (about 9.50 billion U.S. dollars).

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 586.1 points on Friday, down 2.43 points, or 0.41 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.

About 97.281 million shares worth 1.596 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (74.42 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 95 stocks went up, 75 stocks fell down, while 116 stocks remained unchanged.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX- Index, closed at 85.72 points on Friday, down 0.15 points, or 0.17 percent, against the previous trading session.

A total of 30.918 million shares worth 424.317 billion Vietnamese dong (19.87 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Friday, an increase of 1.62 percent in volume and a decrease of 3.36 percent in value against the previous trading session.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.39 percent lower on Friday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index decreased by 30. 28 points to 7809.54. The all-share index went down by 5.49 points, or 0.12 percent, to 4545.05.

Trading volume reached 2.79 billion shares worth 8.71 billion pesos (197.06 million U.S. dollars).

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market finished on Friday down 0.94 percent against the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index decreased by 13.90 points to 1,465.47. A total of 39,650 shares worth about 154 million Lao kip (about 35,000 U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks finished lower on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 10.83 points, or 0.32 percent, to close at 3,362.77.

A total of 1.11 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 910.3 million Singapore dollars (655.4 million U.S. dollars).

JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares closed lower by 13.37 points, or 0. 25 percent, to a level of 5,426.47 on Friday.

Some 232,257 transactions were booked, involving 5.33 billion shares worth 5.43 trillion rupiah (about 411.42 million U.S. dollars).

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended lower here on Friday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,781.75 down 5. 12 points or 0.29 percent, and the Emas was at 12,285.05 down 40. 11 points or 0.33 percent.

Turnover declined to 2.96 billion shares valued at 1.82 billion ringgit Malaysia (493.63 million U.S. dollars), compared with 2.95 billion shares valued at 2.19 billion ringgit Malaysia (593.17 million U.S. dollars) on Thursday.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Friday moved down 2.79 points, or 0.18 percent, to close at 1,544.34 points.

Some 8.88 billion shares worth 46.69 billion baht (about 1.43 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands. Endi
