Roundup: Hong Kong stocks close 0.11 higher

Hong Kong stocks moved up 25.25 points, or 0.11 percent, to close on Friday at 23,823.21 points.

The Central Bank on Thursday said that China is comfortable with the current macroeconomics environment.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 23,790.83 and 23, 918.71. Turnover totaled 73.71 billion HK dollars (about 9.50 billion U.S.dollars).

The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index ended up 146.43 points, or 1.27 percent, to close at 11,712.23.

Two sub-indices lost ground with the Properties moved down 0.28 percent,the Utilities moved down 0.02 percent.Two sub-indices gained ground with the Finance moved up 0.18 percent,the Commerce and Industry ended up 0.15 percent.

The Banking giant HSBC, which accounts for the largest weighting of the Hang Seng Index, edged down 0.92 percent to 64.95 HK dollars.

Bank of East Asia, one of the largest local banks in Hong Kong, ended flat to 29.25 HK dollars.

Local bourse operator HKEX moved down 0.23 percent to 175.20 HK dollars.

China Mobile, China's dominant mobile carrier, moved up 0.15 percent to 99.90 HK dollars, while another Chinese telecom giant China Unicom moved up 0.17 percent to 11.66 HK dollars.

For the local property stocks, Sun Hung Kai, one of HK's largest property developer by market value, ended down 0.35 percent to 115.50 HK dollars; Cheung Kong properties, owned by billionaire Li Ka- shing, ended flat with 150.08 HK dollars.

As for mainland-based financial stocks, China Construction Bank, the country's second largest bank which accounts for the third largest weighting of the Hang Seng Index, ended up 0.64 percent to 6.32 HK dollars.

ICBC, the world's largest bank by market value, moved up 0.91 percent with 5.53 HK dollars. Bank of China moved up 2.35 percent to 4.36 HK dollars.

As for energy stocks, China's top refiner Sinopec ended up 0.16 percent to 6.15 HK dollars. PetroChina, the country's largest oil and gas producer, ended up 0.03 percent to 8.24 HK dollars. (1 U.S. dollar equals 7.76 HK dollars) Endit
