Real Madrid president gives support to under fire coach

Xinhua, March 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

Real Madrid President, Florentino Perez assured in a press appearance on Thursday that coach Carlo Ancelotti's job was secure despite a worrying of poor form and results.

Real Madrid's 4-3 home defeat to Schalke 04 in the Champions League on Tuesday, coming on the back of a defeat away to Athletic Club last Saturday had led to speculation that should his side lose to FC Barcelona on March 22, Ancelotti's job could be on the line.

The Real Madrid coach, who was praised for bringing peace to the club following the traumatic final season under Jose Mourinho, is now being criticized for lacking the ability to crack down on some players, who the fans believe are not pulling their weight, but speaking at a press event, Perez insisted he had "full confidence in our coach and our players."

"There has been news which has nothing to do with the reality of the situation," said Perez, who insisted that rumors, " contributed to create a lot of pressure on our coach and players."

The Real Madrid President admitted the club had demanding supporters, "but we can't allow for our worst moment to be taken advantage of to publish news that is not true."

"We have full confidence in our coach and in our players. I want to say that whatever happens, Carlo Ancelotti will continue to be the coach of Real Madrid and all of the players have the support and affection of the club."

"They are the best coach and players that the club could have and we feel proud of them. Until two months ago they won everything playing what a lot of people believe is the best football the club has ever played," said Perez. Endite
