Xinhua, March 12, 2015 Adjust font size:

German automaker BMW Group on Thursday reported a fifth consecutive record year in terms of sales volume, revenues and group earnings.

Sales volume surpassed the 2 million mark for the first time in the group's history to reach 2,117,965 units last year. The figure climbed 7.9 percent compared to 2013.

BMW reported that 658,384 units of the total sales figure took place in the Asian market. Sales in the Chinese mainland rose to 456,732 units, representing a year-on-year increase of 16.6 percent.

Revenues of company grew by 5.7 percent to 80.4 billion euros (85.2 billion U.S. dollars) in 2014, and net profits improved by 9.2 percent to 5.8 billion euros, marking a new record for the group.

"We continued to perform well during the past year, achieving new highs for sales volume, revenues and group earnings," said Norbert Reithofer, chairman of the board of management.

"Tailwinds caused by high customer demand for our vehicles worldwide are driving up sales volumes. We are targeting further sales volume growth worldwide in the current year and hence a new record level for deliveries," Reithofer added. (1 euro = 1.06 dollar) Endit
