Three persons were killed and 23 others were injured in a bomb blast on Wednesday evening at a major market in Imphal, state capital of the northeast Indian state of Manipur, local media reported.

Some of the injured were in serious conditions as the bomb blast was very powerful, said Press Trust of India.

No individual or group has claimed responsibility for the blast so far. Two of the victims were migrant laborers from other parts of India, said the report.

Some militant groups in northeast India have been staging a small scale insurgency against the government. The militants often target migrant laborers from other parts of the country.

The population in northeast India is ethnically different from other parts of India and closer to southeast Asians in culture and way of living. Endi
